Right at the start of the world’s largest PV exhibition, SNEC, KOSTAL was invited to give a technical presentation to a large audience at the associated specialist conference. Under the heading “Fully-integrated flexible PV inverters for mid-sized systems'“', Thomas Vogel, head of the PV electronics development department, presented the selective electronic string fuse in the fully integrated new PIKO project inverter, the PIKO 36 EPC.
This innovative zero-loss protective function detects hazards before they emerge. Its functions include preventing strings with the wrong polarity from activating and by doing so it protects the photovoltaic system from failure. Strings with defective modules are also detected and shut down, thereby protecting against harmful reverse currents. The PV system then continues to run with the remaining intact strings – PIKO: safe solution for high PV performance!
